Our World & Future is an evolving collection of essays, reflections, fiction, and institutional design by Abel E. Martinez. It explores how work, economics, governance, and culture shape our lives—and how we might organize them to support greater dignity, freedom, and shared well-being.
At its center is the Equitable Future Initiative (EFI), a developing proposal for institutions that give people greater control over their labor and the decisions affecting their lives. Its principles, mechanisms, and practical limits are open to examination and revision.
The wider project also makes room for personal history, cultural questions, and ideas whose implications remain unresolved. You do not need to agree with EFI to find something worth considering here. The aim is to make the thinking visible: where it comes from, what supports it, what challenges it, and how it changes.

Begin with The Value of Labor, a reflection connecting personal experience with questions about how work is valued. From there, explore essays on economics, public institutions, culture, and the conditions that shape daily life.
The Equitable Future Initiative
Project 2028 brings together an early formulation of EFI’s ideas about labor, governance, and shared provision. Read it as a foundation for further examination, with proposals to question, mechanisms to develop, and tensions to resolve.
Fiction and possible futures
The Archivist approaches cultural memory through an imagined world. It offers another way to explore what people preserve, what they forget, and what institutions might make possible.
