Our World & Future is an evolving body of writing and inquiry by Abel E. Martinez, exploring how we live together—and how the institutions shaping our lives might change.

The person behind the work

I’m Abel, a Dominican-born U.S. Marine Corps veteran, public servant, and father. My interests span work, economics, governance, culture, and the everyday experiences through which we encounter larger systems.

This site gives me a place to examine those questions through essays, personal reflection, fiction, and institutional design. Some pieces develop an argument. Others preserve an experience, explore a possibility, or leave a question open.

The Equitable Future Initiative

At the center of this project is the Equitable Future Initiative (EFI): a developing set of proposals about work, essential needs, and shared decision-making.

Project 2028 and Beyond presents an early formulation of that framework. Its ambitions give the work direction; its proposed mechanisms require examination, evidence, and revision.

The wider writing extends beyond EFI. Personal history, cultural interests, and fiction have value in their own right.

How I want to work

I want readers to be able to follow ideas as they develop, including the doubts, contradictions, and changes in direction.

That means distinguishing what I remember from what I can verify, what I believed then from what I believe now, and what I hope an institution could achieve from what evidence supports.

Questions, disagreements, factual corrections, and relevant experiences are welcome. The aim is to build work that becomes more thoughtful and useful through that exchange.
